Miranda Sharpe

Miranda’s jewellery ranges have been inspired heavily by the natural world, with recent inspiration exploring matter that evokes strong emotional responses. Personal work draws on microscopic imagery of bacteria and disease, finding beauty through the form and colours of these images. Miranda explores form, composition and colour application through a combination of drawing and material experimentation to reach design conclusions. Miranda currently works predominantly with precious metals and vitreous enamels with the odd splash of semi-precious and precious stones.

A variety of techniques are employed in the creation of Miranda’s work, combining traditional hand skills with some batch production methods.

Miranda has recently extended her creative investigations, exploring ideas on a larger scale. These include developing her designs into objects by utilising silversmithing techniques. Another strand of investigation has been experimenting with industrial enamelling processes to create wall-works, exploring shape and colour two dimensionally.
